Some more good news out this week for job seekers as a survey suggests that UK HR Directors are concerned about losing top performers in 2013.
The survey from recruitment firm Robert Half UK, suggests that HR Directors believe one in five (22%) of their current employees will look for a new job as the result of new year’s resolutions.
The vast majority of HR Directors surveyed (79%), said they are very concerned about losing their top performers. You do not need to be an economist to know that movement at the top levels often leads to promotion and new hires along the employment chain.
London Firms Expect To Increase Hiring Levels
Then we have the CBI and KPMG report suggesting that businesses in London may start hiring as normal again in the next six months.,
The London Business Survey examined the recruitment plans of 168 companies in the capital, with 61% of respondents saying they would be hiring as normal over the first six months of 2013. In July, this figure stood at 16%.
In addition, the number of businesses reporting a recruitment freeze fell from 51% to 31% in the period from July to December. Those making redundancies also shrank by ten per cent, to 21%.
Sara Parker, CBI Director for London, says: “It’s really encouraging news for London that the hiring freeze seen earlier in the year has begun to thaw and more companies are now getting back to recruiting as normal.”
Bigger picture
The last word comes from recruitment firm Reed, The Reed Job Index indicates that the employment market is ten per cent stronger than this time last year. The vast majority of employment sectors (81%) were in better shape at the end of 2012 than at the same point in 2011.
