Social media are now part of everyday life. They give organisations a low cost way to reach customers and to collaborate internally, but as well all know, they also bring risk.

The Berwin Leighton Paisner‘s social media group has used their experts from a multidisciplinary approach (including litigation, employment, IP and commercial lawyers) to assess five legal-risk types and three categories of social-media use to construct
a handy social media legal-risk matrix.

The matrix identifies eleven specific legal risks associated with social media, and is designed to help you build a complete picture of the legal risk that social media can subject your organisation to.

As well as identifying the risks, the team assessed the potential financial and indirect impact of each risk in typical and extreme
scenarios. And they suggest ways to mitigate each risk identified.

To those whoa re serious about the subject the matrix includes links to four related articles on social media risks,
and the wider topic of legal risk.
